Shows and more shows...

Went watching this Merdeka: the Rock musical with some friends on a friday night after much persuasion by friends and family. (yeap, my brother) It is a musical run by KCLMSS and its a 3 day event.

"Seng is a simple, young bicycle repairman in the restless Singapore of the mid-60's, his only joys in life being the wellbeing of his teenage sister, nights out at the local teenage hangout, and his trusty old Stratocaster electric guitar. In many ways, he is your average young man, living an average life.

All that changes when he befriends Mok, a recent arrival from Batu Pahat, who shares his passion for rock music, but hides a mysterious past.

Seng also falls in love with Yip, a waitress at the teenage hangout, but their bliss is short-lived, as the violent emergence of communist-inclined students threaten the safety of all. Alas, Seng’s sister is seduced by the utopian dogma of Communism.

As the world around them crumbles, Seng retreats deeper and deeper into the interior world of his music, believing it to be a talisman against the hostile forces of the outside world. He realizes only too late his folly, when in the end he loses all that he holds dear, the end of his happiness ironically marked by the independence of two new countries.

MERDEKA ends on a hopeful note of reconciliation and kinship, however, as an older Seng of thirty years later truly discovers the meaning of love and forgiveness.

Filled with soaring melodies, romantic lyricism and progressive rock tunes uncommon in the modern musical, MERDEKA is a sweeping love story, breath-taking in its scope and beauty."

So i went with some friends to watch the musical, and surprisingly it is really good. I had some of my friends in that play (yeap both the lead actresses are my friend =P).And i have to say, kudos to the whole team who made this a real success. The halls are full on the friday night and I personally think that the price paid is well worth =)

And i had to say one thing...my brother rocks...like a bat
u.....
when i 1st saw my brother on stage i was like wthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and after that i start to laugh my head off coz my brother is seriously stoning!!!
LOL

expressionless is the word i guess.
but still he manage to made up on stage for once to act, which is kinda cool

so now i can go ard and tell my friends that i had a brother who actually had act before in a sch play xD
(thou he is a very minor character that u wont even realise...or he isnt any significant person in that play also i think xD)

and so that is for friday...and saturday comes....

there is another Malaysian night going on in Imperial College this time. It is suppose to start at 7 but we are really late due to some unforseen circumstances (ie some tube station closure and stuff) but we still manage to get in on time....

The title of the Imperial M-night performance is titled "The silent cacophony" .

"The silent cacophony is a comedic drama set in the 1950s in Malaysia. the story is concerned around Tasha, the only daughter of an affluent couple living in the city. Tasha's life was blissful until she found herself faced with a life- changing dilemma.

It all started when Tasha's parents decided it was time for her to marry. Following the custom of arranged marriage in those days, they introduced her to two men - hoping that she would fall in love with one of them.

As they had hoped, Tasha did fall in love. Unortunately, with neither of their choices. Instead, she fell for her poor music teacher from the kampung(village) - a man who was still struggling to build a career.

And so Tasha found herself lost in a pool of choices. Choosing between three different men; Choosing between a life of definate wealth, and an uncertain future; choosig between obeying the rules, and rebelling against the social norms; choosing between her family, and her true love.

Will love triumph all = as the hopeless romantics believe? And if so, is it for the love of a man or the love of family?"

And guess what, the whole show is juz fabulous!!! The performances are carried out pefectly according to the original story line...omg juz great. Had never actually went for any of the malaysian nights before but i had to say they are really impressive. With loads of different dances and a lucky draw prizes and stuff, i really did enjoy a good laugh. And apparently, the narrator of the whole story is called "captain jack pipet" xD The whole Imperial night has this pirate theme and dancers dressed in costumes =)

and i really did enjoy the dikir barat performances!!

It is always the highlight for any M nights coz its always the most amazing and the best performance of all time!!!
I will post up some pictures of the M night if possible =)
But this time round no pics are taken so i had to get it from some friends.
just go try google it and see whether u can find the videos of the imperial M night (and the dikir) =)

And not to forget,,,Jimmy Choo is there!! He is at the Imperial M- night thingy and giving out lucky draw prizes. But anyway right, i see him!! Finally!! haha he is a very short fella eh >< )

So as the M night starts late, so normally it will end late right??? So the whole thing ended at ard 12. And my friends and I went for some drinks and supper (or breakfast u can call) til alm
ost 430am only we start heading back home...

OMG i havent been out this late since dunno when....but one thing for sure, the place we went is not a good place to go especially at weekends and late nights like this. U can see a lot of ppl getting really high and start singing on the streets, drunkards are normal at that place too. Yikes. a very scary place that i do not recommend anyone to go at that time of the day.

And now its almost 5 which is way beyond my sleeping time so here i am blogging at some weird hr of the day instead of catching up with sleep.

p/s: btw right, on the 3rd of march there is some lunar eclipse in UK. And the moon is red in colour!! i manage to catch a glimpse of the moon just before i went taking the tube back to some other places on that night. It is really beautiful. And the next lunar eclipse will be somewhere around august which can be visible in aussie and the eastern countries =)

And below are some of the pics of lunar eclipse that i didnt take...coz i was in the Imperial M-night!!
Compilation by me =)

And those are the pics taken at Stonhenge. Found it online and thinks that this pic is great!!

And this pic on my right is the whole sequence of the lunar eclipse...very very pretty =)
